Geocache Description:

St Andrew - Sibertswold

Sibertswold (meaning "the wood of Sibert") is the ancient name of present day Shepherdswell, although some maps still show it as Sibertswold. The earliest reference to a church here was as far back as 994, although today's St.Andrew's Church is entirely Victorian. It was designed by Benjamin Ferrey in 1863 and built by John Bowley of Folkestone for £1396. Built of local flint with Bath stone dressings, it consisting of nave, apsidal chancel and transepts.

The cache, which is hidden outside the churchyard, can be found at N51 11.ABC, E001 14.DEF

1. Ernest Watkins GRUBB was vicar here between =  19CA - 19D4

2. On the Via Francigena notice board there is a black and white drawing in the lower left. The last digit of the date ABOVE the drawing = B

3. The headstone of another vicar of Sibertswold now rests within the main porch. His year of departure =  F7E9

Please ensure cache is secure when leaving - no spoilers please.
