TeamAlexAbby: This is the very first time I have archived a cache. My son archived his multi under our team account, but this is my first archive. I'm a little sad about it. I normally don't place caches without a lot of thought, planning and re-thinking all in the end.
I found this family business while looking at a downtown Naperville touring/hiking company that takes groups out and shows them historic locations and they sample good foods along the way. One of their stops was Kreger's. I was amazed that I had never heard of Kreger's and so I took the kids there for lunch one day. After talking with the owner about Honor Flight Chicago (his dad was a WWII veteran) and telling him about geocaching, he agreed to let me place the cache out front. He even came out and I showed him the nano on the sign.
So I typed up the cache page and submitted and within two days, the cache was published.
Then three days later, I checked the cache page and since I had attached a related web page of the store, I clicked through and was shocked to see that they were closing the business at the end of that week. After 120 years, the 4th generation owner decided to close his doors and move on to other endeavors. Best of luck to him in his future. There are kind words about their closing day on their webpage.
I spoke with the current owner when I came back in during the final week of business and I asked him about the geocache and whether or not he might consider a business selling his products to retail stores or a historical museum and he said he had no immediate plans. So we both thought it was best to remove the cache since this is now a strictly residential spot. I'm taking my nano back today around 3PM, in case anyone wants to sign in before then. I may decide to retire the jinxed nano, I don't know yet. Is there a record for the longest archive note?
Thanks to those who visited in the last three weeks and had nice things to say. And thanks to Keeganc for the favorite point!
