Geocache Description:

Placed on Mill Creek Road. Parking is narrow at listed coords, Easy access to cache is non-existant but a short stroll will be in order.  Cache is placed as a Mystery to constitute explicit directions to GZ and to accomodate a better knowledge of what is involved to access GZ. Several ways are available, although safest approach is provided by following direction in the description.  Just a neat local treasure unoticed by passerbyers of all likes.

Where you will be in search of the cache is none other than The 1st Dam of the Mill Creek area. What was once a reservoir is now a silt filled retaining wall, Brilliant waterfall, plugged outlets and vintage pipes perhaps sealed with lead and horsehair...the pipe you will see here used to supply the Mendocino State Hospital, as was the main intention of the dam project ...ENJOY IT, I think you will!

Cache was placed 12-31-2011 and sat for a year before initializing a listing and deeming it a stable location.  You will need some good shoes appropriate for side-hilling, scaling wet rocks and/or traversing through a creek, it all depends on the route you care to take.  I have provided best access points in the references, although an approach from directly above GZ is possible, it is not the most stable descent due to loose earth and failing grounds potentially posing a dangerous fall.

Easiest access I have found can be acheived at N39*07.900 W123*08.318 There is a tree limb to duck under and a slight side-hill trail to take you down to the creek.  I reccomend staying higher on the hill, side-hilling your way to GZ and staying away from the loose embankments of the creek. You could always go feet first in the creek aswell :-)   Please also note that any rains will effect the difficulty, wheather by providing an unstable footing or higher water level.  With all that being said and the fact that you now know a little bit better as to what you may be getting into, Lets find it!

To find the coords to GZ may not be the difficult part, it will be the lack of reception that a canyon setting provides that may make things interestingly frusterating.  Like the fact that 27 ft was my best accuracy, or maybe the fact that the smartest phone you got will be dumb for you...its not gonna help!  You have to read the listing and utilize the tools provided below!

Tool #1~ Contentness- 8 degrees of seperation between being where you are and being happy where you are...you wont be content getting wet.
Tool #2~ Common Sense- There are 9 senses of use related with ONE, 4 of those are used here, they are the most common.
Tool #3~ Simplicity- Its not difficulty, its a matter of hiding a box...very well using natural surroundings.
Tool #4~ Stability- Wether mental or physical, the later of the 2 will be prevailent and the hide at GZ is stably rooted
Tool #5~ Willingness- Stay focused amongst the setting, your here for a reason and perseverance pays...venture on...stay low!
Tool #6~ Drive- and mobility will push you here, once your here, thats 8 steps from the waters edge of something that wasnt.
Tool #7~ GPS- will discourage... the 2nd sub-tool is in use here, we'll call it "Touch" and is a part of the common aspects of sense. You WILL have to touch and feel your way to the cache

With all that to work with, the numbers are in there...
 GZ is located @
 N39.07 ABC
W123.08 XYZ   then you can toss another 1 on the C and 1 +/- on the Z to compensate for accuracy...thatll get ya there!   ;)

Once you are satisfied with your findings, I suggest you venture onwards and upwards...its well worth the efforts and...YOUR HERE!   I would only advise care to be taken, which can be easiest from either going back the way you came, or straight up the obvious. The difference now is that you are going UP and can positively see what you are dealing with and what care needs to be addressed to ensure your safety.  Besides, its always easier going up :)   Hope you enjoy and as awlays...Till Next Time! ~ CACHE HARD and CACHE ON!
