I thought that Brockville could use a few puzzle caches, but in thinking about it, I know how anxious everybody gets when they see that "question mark" icon. This series is designed to help those who are a little reluctant to try a puzzle, give it a go. The various caches focus on differing methods of basic puzzle solving and will give one a starting point with their puzzle solving. The series basically amounts to a tutorial and all the caches are micro park and grabs. So let's roll up our sleeves and get started. Before we getting started as with most puzzles, THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE POSTED COORDINATES!!!
Moh's Scale of Mineral Hardness
The very first puzzle I ever solved required the use of this, so in dedicated memory of it, I've included Moh's Scale of Mineral Hardness in my series.
The Mohs scale of mineral hardness characterizes the scratch resistance of various minerals through the ability of a harder material to scratch a softer material. It was created in 1812 by the German geologist and mineralogist Friedrich Mohs and is one of several definitions of hardness in materials science.
It certainly is one of many 1000's of ways to get numbers for coords, but was a fun way as when I started caching, I had no idea where to even start. I'll make this one easier for you though, in keeping with the D 1.5 theme, here we go.
The cache is located at:
N 44 AB.CDE
W 075 FG.HIJ
A=Calcite
B=Orthoclase
C=Quartz
D=Quartz
E=Gypsum
F=Flourite
G=Quartz
H=Talc
I=Corundum
J=Quartz
I hope that wasn't too
"HARD"
As with all CZ caches, I hope you have fun (oh yeah), be safe and hopefully learn something.
Cheers
