Geocache Description:

A hilly 1.7 mile round trip hike. Named Eagle Pt. because, as I looked DOWN while placing the cache, I saw a bald eagle perched high in a nearby tree (a not so subtle hint for the find!) Many have had the same good fortune since. Starting from either parking lot below, the light blue blazes of the Mason-Dixon Trail will serve you well on the way to the cache. Illegal hunting on power co. land makes this a good cache to avoid Saturdays during the firearm seasons after Thanksgiving plus the one in early Jan. From the Glen Cove marina parking lot at the end of both Berkley and Glen Cove Roads, head down past the marina store, say hi to hospitable owner-operator Butch Young, buy a snack, and go 90 feet past his “Private Drive No Trespassing” sign (his dogs are friendly) to where the blue-blazed Mason-Dixon Trail heads up into the forest toward some nice late fall-winter-early spring views. For an alternative 3.6 mile round trip hike to this cache, with even more variety of Susquehanna scenery, find the Conowingo Pool parking lot on the northwest side of U.S. Rt. 1 just SW of the Conowingo Dam/bridge over the river. Park as close to the parking lot entrance as possible and look for the blue blazes leading westward (by the very tall radio tower.) The scenic blue blazed Mason-Dixon Trail will be very helpful and crosses a safe electric fence as long as you use the trail's wooden steps (stile). Look for Great Blue Herons on this route. Of course, with two cars, a point to point 2.65 mile hike does the trick.
