I thought that Brockville could use a few puzzle caches, but in thinking about it, I know how anxious everybody gets when they see that "question mark" icon. This series is designed to help those who are a little reluctant to try a puzzle, give it a go. The various caches focus on differing methods of basic puzzle solving and will give one a starting point with their puzzle solving. The series basically amounts to a tutorial and all the caches are micro park and grabs. So let's roll up our sleeves and get started. Before we getting started as with most puzzles, THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE POSTED COORDINATES!!!
Dates
Like I've mentioned previously, there are many, many ways of getting numbers from differing sources, but for this example, we'll use dates. Some people use the year, month, day, etc, but for the purpose of this exercise and to keep things as simple as possible, we'll use the year. Also in using the year, some people use the first digit, last digit, the digital root of the year, etc. Again, to keep things around the D 1.5 area, I'll use the last number in each year of the event. This type of cache often requires a little research, but with a computer and Google (or whatever you use), it should be a breeze. So are you ready, here we go, the cache is located at:
N 44 36.ABC
W 075 45.DEF
A = Bill Gates and Paul Allen found Microsoft in Albuquerque, NM
B= The Battle of Iwo Jima
C= Abraham Lincoln is shot by John Wilkes Booth
D= Montreal Olympics
E= The Titanic sinks with the loss of over 1000 souls
F= Canadianzombie (A Centennial baby) turns one year old)
As with all CZ caches, the expectation is fun, safety and education
Cheers
