Church micro 3201... All Saints Chedgrave. Parking is available at the published co-ordinates, from here go through the churchyard gates
You will need to obtain information from headstones in the churchyard- there is no need to leave the path The cache is at N52 32.ABC E001 28.XYZ Lucy The beloved wife of John Wright July 16th 1X03 Aged 70 years. Robert Royal beloved husband of Mary Ann Royal who fell asleep March ZAth 1884 aged B8 years Elizabeth Roger Escolme 1Cth October 1Y53 aged 83 The present church dates back to the early 12th century but there is archaeological evidence for Saxon origins. It's shape is quite unusual and not at all regular. The font dates from the 15th century. The nave is Norman and forms part of the original church. The great East window has medieval glass although it came to England during the Napoleonic wars and is thought to be from Rouen Cathedral. The North tower is square and thatched with small narrow win dows in a typical early Norman style. Some of the earliest wall paintings in the country have been found underneath the whitewash in this tower. Over the centuries, the church has had many alterations, the latest in 1993. The church is well worth a visit if you have time. “If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication. There is also a Church Micro Stats page found via the Bookmark list ”
