Geocache Description:


Rudolph is the most famous Reindeer.  Everybody knows who he is and his story.  So we couldn’t let any old traditional be his cache.  You will need the codes from the previous Reindeer caches to solve for the final.

This is littleblkdog’s Reindeer Run.  Other than squirrels, birds, and food there is probably nothing more interesting than deer, especially Reindeer.  If only she could meet one of them.  LBD assured me that she would be nice and only wanted to meet the Reindeer to give them her Christmas list.  So I took her to all the places where the Reindeer might be in the Columbia area, dropping caches as we went.  We didn’t find Rudolph but maybe you can find the caches.  These are all located at the secret, undercover homes of all the famous Reindeer.  Keep an eye out and maybe you will see one of them.
 
This is meant to be a kid-friendly series of easy holiday caches.  To assist in narrowing down the approach, parking coordinates are provided.  From the parking area, walk down the left hand side (the side without a sidewalk) of Volmerhausen to Murray Hill and take the White Blazes which will lead you close to the cache. The White Blaze is about halfway between the parking coordinates and Murray Hill. Once at the trailhead, take the short but slightly steep hill down the trail and across the small stream. About .25 miles from the trailhead the White Blazes veers up a hill to the left which will put the river on your right.  Or you could take the sewer line easement to the right off the White Blazes which despite its name is a nice trail along the river.
 
Another option would be to find Deep Smoke. You could bushwhack from there which would probably be pretty easy in the Winter but not advisable in the fuller growth of summer.
 
Or you could also use the parking area for the Wincopin access at Savage Park which is also the White Blazes but not until you reach the end of the Yellow Blazes (this will take you over that notorious bridge).  Please do not attempt this from the residential roads above the cache. Other than the CA trail to Deep Smoke, there are NO official trails from the roads that would not be trespassing.
