I was inspired to do this cache through my career in the newspaper industry. It focuses on local news events that have had an impact on our local area or that have reached readers across the country. Please ensure that the hiding/concealing device is returned snuggly.
On November 15, 2012, tragedy came to Midland, TX. A flatbed tractor trailer carrying veterans in a parade was struck by a train at the intersection of Industrial and Garfield. While stories of heroism and sacrifice emerged, it did not change the fact that four veterans lost their lives that day and 16 others were injured. Local and national news agencies descended on the industrial looking intersection to cover the event. Currently, signs, American flags and flowers indicate this intersection and pay tribute to the four veterans who lost their lives.
