While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Nothing seems to happen with this cache listing, so it is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

If the owner wants it reopened, send me an e-mail and I’ll be happy to unarchive the cache listing if it still satisfies the requirement/guidelines.

Søndre Slagen kirke omtales også som "Katedralen i skogen".

Grunnstenen til kirken blei nedlagt den 13. juni 1971. Kirken ble vigslet 10. desember 1972 og har feiret sitt 40 årsjubileum i begynnelsen av desember 2012 med mange arrangementer.

Kirken blei tegnet av arkitektfirmaet Arnstein Arneberg i Oslo, ved utførende arkitekt Olav Platou. Kirken er en langkirke med 350 sitteplasser i hovedskipet. Foruten kirkeskip, sakristi og gravkapell er det tilknyttet en stor menighetssal med 250 sitteplasser.
Hele bygningen har en gulvflate på ca 2200 kvm. Kirkens innvendige lengde er 30 meter, bredde er 21 meter og største høyde under hvelvet 15,3 meter.

Kirken har et vakkert alterteppe vevet av Else Marie Jakobsen. Teppet heter «Fra tornekrone til seierskrone» og er 4x8 meter stort. Motivet symboliserer Jesu seier over døden og mørket, og over korset og smerten.

For å finne cachen må du vandre rundt kirken og samle noen opplysninger. Start ved hovedporten fra parkeringsplassen (obs! ingen innkjøring!) (Veipunkt Hp)

Når du følger veien rundt kirken tilbake til parkeringsplassens østlige del, skal du telle antall lykter langs veien. Tell bare den gamle typen (se bilde). Antall lykter = A.
Tell antall oppslagstavler mellom hovedporten og inngangen til kirken. Antall oppslagstavler = B.
Overfor hovedinngangsdøra til kirken vil du se klokketårnet - antall "bein" på klokketårnet = C.
På sørveggen av kirken er det flere store vinduer. Disse er delt inn i små ruter. Antall små ruter i alle vinduene til sammen = D.
Det er mange trær i området. Men hvilket treslag finner du til venstre for inngangen til kapellet (kjellernivå på baksiden av kirken)= E. Gran=1, Lerk=2, Eik=3, Bjørk=4, Furu=5

English:
Søndre Slagen church is sometimes called "The Catedral in the forest". The church was finished in 1972 and celebrated its 40th anniversary in December 2012. It has 350 seats in the main church, with an additional 250 seats in the adjoining congregational hall.
The beautiful altarpiece is 4 x 8 meters and woven by Else Marie Jakobsen.

To find the cache you will have to walk around the church collecting some information. Start at the main gate from the parking lot (waymark Hp, NO entrance with car!).

When following the path/road from the main gate, around the church to the parking lot (east side), count the number of street lights you pass = A. Only count the old type (see picture).
Count the number of bulletin boards between the main gate and the entrance to the church. Number of bulletin boards = B.
Opposite the main entrance to the church you find the bell tower. Number of "legs" in the bell tower = C.
On the south wall of the church you'll see several large windows divided into smaller squares. The total number of small squares in all these windows = D.
There are many species of trees around the church, but what is the tree you see to the left of the entrance to the chapel (ground level at the back of the church) = E. Spruce=1, Larch=2, Oak=3, Birch=4, Pine=5
