Geocache Description:

The Armada has decided to get a bit more brazzen and head North for some pillaging at Pawtuckaway State Park.

For three summers in a row, we've held a paddle event in Rhode Island, attracting about 40 vessels for a relaxing day on the water. Caches were found, cookies tossed, and good times were had by all.

One of the "usual suspects" noted the large number of paddle caches on Pawtuckaway Lake, and the seed of a concept of an idea of a plan was hatched.

This will be a "floating" event. Attendees will rendezvous at the listed coordinates from 12:00pm until 1:00pm, and we will lash our vessels together to create a new, temporary floating island. During this time, everyone will enjoy their BYO lunch and beverages, "mingle" with their neighbors, swap travel bugs and geocoins, and generally have a good time. Each boat should have a short length of line (8-12' long) so that they can tie off to a neighboring vessel.

Attendees are strongly encouraged to bring their own man-portable water stream projection devices*. To help stay cool. Honest. No other reasons. Really. Just to stay cool.

After lunch, we will dis-assemble, and head our respective ways. The non-locals will continue their journey to grab the caches. The locals are free to join us, or head back to shore to meet up with us for the land based event later in the evening.

While there is parking at the coordinates provided below (PK), it is not endless, so please try to car pool as much as possible. There is no fee to park at the launch site.

Two things of note:
1) The NO PARKING areas are strictly enforced.
2) There may be a park host checking boats for invasive plants/algae. PLEASE BE SURE TO CLEAN YOUR BOAT BEFORE COMING UP! Some Simple Green, water and a brush does wonders.

The Rhode Island Armada members will meet at the parking lot at 8:00am with a launch time of approximately 8:30am.

Anyone planning to stay overnight at the campground is responsible for making their own arrangements. Pawtuckaway Campground is a great location to camp at! Sites can be book at ReserveAmerica.com.

If you can't make the paddle event, perhaps you can enjoy us on dryland that same evening: "What The Heck Is A Quahog - NH Style".
