Geocache Description:

East Chiltington Church.

East Chiltington Church has a small C12 nave, a tower of c1200 and a C14 chancel. Restoration in the C19 was thorough - a new half-timbered porch was added, most windows were renewed and a C13 style chancel arch was built.

The yew tree on the left as you enter the churchyard is said to be at least 1500 years old.

This is a special church to me as it was where I was married in 1993, my children were baptised here and there have been numerous other family weddings, baptisms and funerals here too.

The Lych gate has more recently been restored and in return for donating money for the restoration, local people were given roof tiles to write their names on, These can be seen if you look up in the gateway - are there any names you recognise? My name is there (for those who know me!) along with my children, husband and many of his family - we are related to the couple who's grave you need to find.

Enter the chuchyard and look for the grave of Adela Sarah and George Stenning Martin near the porch

years of death 19AB and 19CD respectivly

the cache can then be found a short walk away at
N50 55.(B+1) (C+1) (A-1)  W000 03.(C-6) A (D+6)

The cache has log book but no pen, please bring your own

If any body would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication. There is also a Church Micro Stats page found via the Bookmark list.
