Geocache Description:

There is no cache at the posted coordinates. This is a good place to park and start your quest.

This cache was hidden in order to bring you to a place of interest, rich with history. The final wil bring you to an area with pleasant views of the waterfront.

Helen Gordon (1660-1687) was the wife of Thomas Gordon of Scotland, she died December 12, 1687, aged 27 years. Her tombstone is the oldest still erected in New Jersey. Her tombstone reads: "Calm was her death, well ordered her life, a pious mother and a loving wife, her offspring six, of which 4 here do lie, their souls in heaven, wher's do rest on high". In 1875 her tombstone and remains were moved from a cemetery on State Street to Saint Peter's Episcopal Church Cemetery.

Your goal is to visit this historic cemetery and locate this oldest marked grave in NJ. From that point you need to subtract 216 from the North coords, and add 114 to the West.

Some other cachers and I have recently discussed a number of caches that have been placed lately that lack interesting location, style, history, or some other feature that would bring a finder to the spot besides a smilie.

I hope that as you search for the grave, you respect the grounds, and you examine some of the very old headstones and their insciptions.

I also hope that cache will help promote quality hides in Central Jersey.
