Flyover Country Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

The WBs: I was considering re-deployment or transferring ownership on my caches, as circumstances are unfortunately preventing the maintenance I should be providing. Archiving is the best option, based on the tone of some DNF logs and dwindling interest in caches in the "unknown" category that are not challenge caches. Thanks for playing!

Geocache Description:

NOT AT POSTED COORDINATES. Bicoastal snobs refer to the plains as “flyover country” as they drink martinis on their NY-to-LA red-eye flights. We know that they don’t know what they’re missing, and that’s okay, but this cache celebrates the kind of flyover that takes a closer look. Final is a magnetic keyholder in a revisited spot that lends itself to a higher perspective. Parking a car will take planning.

UPDATED: Exactly one year after placement, hwbas04 contacted me to let me know one of the aerial images is no longer available. I revised the puzzle to take that into account, and also added a solving grid to alleviate ambiguities. I even added a few starter vowels to the grid. Thanks for playing!

There are several cool power trails that create a word or design on the geocaching map. Did you know that there are a handful of landscape and architectural features in the Omaha area that are designed to be viewed from the air? Grab your virtual satellite map of choice and join me in a flyover.

There are several spots in town where a certain vehicle might need to be parked in a hurry. Write the number of letters in the name of one of the vehicles (either the specific or general name will work; all four are similar examples):______
N 41° 19.322  W 96° 01.276
N 41° 15.549  W 96° 02.455 (with another one across the street to the north)
N 41° 14.318  W 96° 10.894
N 41° 15.959  W 95° 57.265

Three local high schools are so proud of their mascots that you can spot them from great heights. Add the number of letters for all the mascot names together (the plural forms exactly as given with the pictures): _____
N 41° 15.646  W 96° 06.406
N 41° 18.880  W 96° 02.598
N 41° 10.669 W 95° 58.860

Finally, two local corporations have logos which are only visible from above. Write the number contained in this logo: ____
N 41° 15.704  W 95° 56.120

And the number of vowels in the 7-letter name of the company represented by this logo:_____
N 41° 15.438  W 95° 55.731

Now add all your yellow answers together to give you a key number:_____
The final cache location:
N 41 17.(155 minus key number)
W 96 02.0(61 minus key number)
