Clontarf Road train station (Irish: Bóthar Chluain Tarbh) is one of the newest stations on the DART commuter rail line. It is located at the south-western end of Clontarf Road, on the border between Clontarf and Fairview. It was built in the late 1990s to serve the densely populated areas about, and also East Point Business Park. This DART station is located between Killester and Connolly DART stations.
The cache is hidden outside of the train station off a road which is only used by pedestrians and the shuttle bus that goes to Eastpoint Business Park.
If travelling here by car, note that there is no access to this cache from Alfie Byrne Road. The road is for use by the Eastpoint Business Park shuttle bus only.
There is a carpark at the station but it is pay and display all day every day. Waypoint provided for carpark that is pay and display Mon-Fri 8am to 6pm only, free weekends.
The cache is a micro container. Bring a pen to sign the log.
Sidenote: On the day we placed this cache, we saw many birds hopping about the bushes nearby including bluetits, chaffinchs, a bullfinch and a goldcrest! (the smallest bird in Europe) and a Kestrel looking for it's prey from atop the lampost near the cache site (photo uploaded to cache page). Not a spot you would think of for birdwatching : ) but it was a great discovery!
