The WBs: I was considering re-deployment or transferring ownership on the detectives, as circumstances are unfortunately preventing the maintenance I should be providing. Archiving is the best option, based on the tone of the DNF logs and dwindling interest in caches in the "unknown" category that are not challenge caches. Thanks for playing! Geocache Description:

Cache is not at posted coordinates; solve the puzzle below to find the final location. UPDATE: New placement a little higher; 3-4 feet of TOTT needed, should find it at hand most seasons.

There is a trail most of the way, but the last 30 feet or so include a relatively steep grade and a small creeklet that may make the area marshy. Watch your step! Father Brown was created by G. K. Chesterton, and the first collection of short stories was published in 1911. Like other famous detectives of the early twentieth century, the character was adapted for movies, radio and television. Among those who portrayed Father Brown: Walter Connolly (who also portrayed both Nero Wolfe and Charlie Chan), and Sir Alec Guinness (Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars films, among many other roles).

Father Brown was not the only crime-solving cleric in detective fiction; there are actually a surprising number of them. Among the most notable: Father Dowling, featured in a series of novels and a TV adaptation starring Tom Bosley (known to many as Richie Cunningham's dad from Happy Days) ; Fr. "Blackie" Ryan, created by Fr. Andrew Greeley; medieval Brother Cadfael, memorably portrayed by Derek Jacobi on the PBS Mystery! series; and Rabbi David Small. The instructions are simple: just rearrange each column of letters into the spaces directly above, crossing off each one as it's used. For example, there's only one box for the "s" in the last column to be entered; what, then, must the previous letter be from the four choices?
