Geocache Description:

St Michael and All Angels in the peaceful hamlet of Aston Sandford is one of the smallest Anglican churches in England. The interior lights are often on, but unfortunately the church is usually locked.

The nave is probably 12th century and the chancel and chancel arch, 13th century. The small upper east window contains some 13th century glass depicting a seated figure of Our Lord. This glass is probably the oldest known example of medieval stained glass in England, and possibly the church's most valuable asset.

Rev Thomas Scott, the rector from 1801 to 1821, trained the first missionaries of the Church Missionary Society (CMS), which has seen over 9,000 mission partners serve in Britain and overseas. The CMS remains active throughout the world today. Scott's greatest work was a Bible commentary that initially was introduced in weekly parts, but is now a classic sometimes known as 'Scott's Bibles'. Six volumes are kept within this church.

The cache is a 35ml pot. It is not located in the church grounds.

Geocaching Etiquette. geocaching.com states under 'Help Center' in Paragraph 1.7: 'We like to keep things fun for everyone, so we have a few rules we encourage everyone to follow. Sign both the logbook and log your find online to get your smiley. Geocache owners love reading about your experience'. There are more rules, but this is the first one. This cache owner requests that if on the rare occasion geocachers are unable to sign, an explanation is given in their log. A photo of the cache, if possible should then be sent through the messaging system.
