Geocache Description:

Mitzpe Shalem is a settlement and a kibbutz in the Judean Desert, about a kilometer from the Dead Sea, near Highway 90, about 13 miles north of Ein Gedi, Dead Sea Scrolls in the Regional Council. Was established in 1971 as a Nahal settlement and naturalized as a Kibbutz in the organization of the kibbutz movement in 1976, today belongs Takam. Mitzpe Shalem is named for Dr. Nathan SHALEM which investigated the Judean Desert.

This memorial area, was established in memory of Nimrod Cohen, who was killed in Lebanon on 12/07/2006, during the rescue hostages and dead soldiers from the battlefield. Nimrod, as the desert, quiet, majestic and humble, but inside it alive and giving. Please maintain the dignity of the place. Please keep clean.
