What is my kind of trail? It is one that will get the heart pumping, have good altitude gain with no switchbacks, is in good shape, easy to follow, plenty of great views all around and have lots of caches! Well this trail fits that description and is now full of caches thanks to me. The views from the last cache include the Channel Islands, Boney Mountain, Topa Topa, Chief Peak, Santa Paula Peak, South Mountain, Pine Mountain, Two Trees, the coast, and the oil fields.The roundtrip hike from the parking above the cache, "North of Anacapa," is four miles with 1,460 feet of gain. If you want a longer hike with a few more caches and a little more gain, then park in the upper parking lot behind Ventura City Hall and start with "V.B.G.T." The lower trail is new and has switchbacks. Have fun!
