Geocache Description:

Along the trails of Daley Ranch in Escondido there are just over 100 challenging caches to go after.  Take this challenge and find all of them -- North and South from "Thumper's Thicket" to "Bison tube in a tree", and East and West from "Viridian View" to "Stanley Peak Geocache".

This cache has two purposes.  First it is a traditional cache along a trail.  And secondly it serves to keep track of those cachers who have completed the Daley Ranch Roundup Challenge -- to find and log every active cache in the ranch.  Log your find here whether or not you have completed the full challenge.  Find all of the caches in the Daley Ranch Roundup Bookmark List and get your name listed on the Daley Ranch Roundup Hall of Fame below.  I promise to keep current myself as well.

The bookmark list includes a few extras I've added that show up on Groundspeak maps of Daley Ranch or have waypoints inside Daley Ranch.  The Dixon Lake area is also included since it is all connected.  You can create a Pocket Query from the Bookmark List and use it to find the caches and also to track your progress on multiple trips.  And of course the list will continue to be updated as new caches are added or archived.  In order to qualify for the Daley Ranch Hall of Fame all you need to do is to have found all currently active caches on the date you say you finished.  Caches marked as needing maintenance means you'll just have to wait until they are fixed.

To be recognized just post a separate log with evidence on this cache page when you have completed the challenge and you'll be added to the list below.  Hard evidence is appreciated but this is on the honor system and it is easy enough to verify your finds.

Above all, have fun!

Congratulations to the following cachers for finding all active geocaches as of the date next to their name.

This particular cache was placed so it can be easily accessed from the trail.  You don't need to go tromping on the vegetation.  When replacing it please make sure it is at least out of sight.

The container was originally a camouflaged ammo box courtesy of Captain Alistair Howard, USMC (DevildogLT).  There was a black star inside the lid to commemorate the source and the NCC Ammo Can event back in 2009.  Smile if you were there.

The easiest way to get to this cache is by parking in the dirt lot at the top of La Honda Drive.  Then follow the paved Ranch House Road to the first Boulder Loop trail head.  Continue to the Rock Ridge trail and head north.

Bring water, something to write with, and in case of an emergency a cell phone; you'll be about 1.5 miles from the car coming or going.  Be sure to also bring info on the other caches in the area so you can make it a more productive hike.  Grab a trail map at the parking lot info kiosk if you need one.  Also keep in mind that they chain the parking areas closed shortly after sundown and the Ranch is not available at night.
