S1. Find four words in a circle. Two of them start with the same letter. Convert that letter to a number (A=1, B=2, etc.) That is B. Now look for three labels in a row (R W L). Take the last letter of the six-letter W word and convert to a number. That is D.
S2. Below the broken letters is an intact (though corroded) silver word. Convert each letter to a number and add them up. That is A.
S3. Count the total number of above-ground steps (some are broken). That is E. (Things have deteriorated: E is 3)
S4. In the middle, find adjacent vent openings going horizontally and vertically. Count each separately (say, H and V). Multiply H*V. That is F.
S5. The northernmost (closest to road) washer has C exposed, fully penetrating bullet holes on the outside housing. It is right next to another washer. Note: please do not add any more bullet holes. (This may have wandered. C=6)
Low tech check: A+B+C+D+E+F = 146

In addition to the log book and some swag, the cache container holds an envelope with copies of clue sheets for the nine ciphers that comprise the other three puzzle caches in the Joey-Jo series (see links below). Feel free to take one if you are interested. They are not cryptic hints; they flat out tell you the type of cipher and any associated keyword. You will still need to match up the correct cipher with each clue however, so they are not complete spoilers.
