The earliest reference to the church in the village is 1070, but the present building started to be-built in 1140 and took nearly 400 years to complete! The first recorded vicar took office in 1209. In all, there have been 48 vicars in un-broken succession. Above the south door a unique tympanum is located. The carving shows a magnificent Tree of Life at the centre. A peculiar beast stands on each side of the tree, rearing up to grasp a bit of fruit from the tree branches in its mouth. Inside the church the font has been in regular use for 800 years, and continues to be used for infant baptisms.
Geocaching Etiquette. geocaching.com states under 'Help Center' in Paragraph 1.7: 'We like to keep things fun for everyone, so we have a few rules we encourage everyone to follow. Sign both the logbook and log your find online to get your smiley. Geocache owners love reading about your experience'. There are more rules, but this is the first one. This cache owner requests that if on the rare occasion geocachers are unable to sign, an explanation is given in their log. A photo of the cache, if possible should then be sent through the messaging system.
