Geocache Description:

Pant Y Fachwen Miners cottage, is just off Offa's Dyke Footpath, on Prestatyn Hillside, at a approximate altitude of 146m above Sea Level. The Location is exposed to the elements, so please dress appropriately, and wear suitable footwear.

The Event will start with the blowing of a whistle at Pant Y Fachwen Cottage at 9 minutes past 8am on the 10th November 12, so making it a 8-9-10-11-12 Event, a rarity that will not be seen again this century.

For those who do not have the ability to make the journey to the Event Location. The Log Book will be available to be signed, at the Main Parking Location. from 06:40 until 06:50.

The remains of the Cottage are believed to be over 200 years old, the story goes that the Miner left in the morning to go to work, and never returned to his family. Prestatyn Hillside being a Mining area going back to the Roman Times, who mined Lead.

At the Whistle a energy bar named after a Planet in the Solar System, will be given to each attendee . Please bring a drink with you, given the location and the time of day, I'd suggest a hot drink.
Please post the number in your team, who will be attending. So that enough celestial bars will be provided.
The log book will be made available, and discussions about local caches will probably happen. Especially if a certain local cache placer is in attendance

Stage 1,Trail head one, is located next to a very small parking area, which will quickly fill up. This will involve a steep climb (some of it up steps) and a path approximately 33cm/1ft wide, on the side of a steep slope. And will result in a walk of approximately 1 mile.

Stage 3 is alternative parking in Gwaengysgor, and Trail leading to Offas Dyke Path.

Stage 5 is alternative parking in Meliden, and Trail leading to Offas Dyke Path.

The Cottage is not often visited, even though it is next to Offa's Dyke, as it is partially hidden from direct view. There are other ways to access it from different points. I have added some waypoints for alternative parking/access. .

On the 26th of October, I took a walk up to the Cottage, and did the walk from the car park in under a hour. The terrain is unmade, muddy paths, One Flight of stairs, and muddy but steep rocky descents.
