Video Game History #1 - Breakout Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

DpThought0: Totally agree with the previous post. I had made a replacement cache and actually stopped by GZ several times, but there really is too much traffic for what I was hiding. I considered changing the cache to a different type of container which would be less visible, but it wouldn't fit the theme of the cache. When I find an appropriate area to replace the hide, Video Game History #1a will come back!

Geocache Description:

This is the first cache in a series about video game history. Each cache in this series is based on an arcade, console, or computer game.  This is my also my first official cache (other than one I recently adopted), so any feedback is welcome!

BREAKOUT

Released in 1976, Breakout was a single player game heavily influenced by Pong.  The object of the game was to use a movable paddle to bounce a ball into a brick wall, breaking bricks until the levels were clear.  The game was a success, with versions developed for the PC as well as other game systems, notably the popular Atari 2600 version (image shown).

The success of Breakout spawned the sequel Super Breakout, as well as numerous clones and variations of the game over the years.

ABOUT THE CACHE

This cache is located in Eastlake Park, in Ridley Park, PA.  This park is host to many town events, including an Independence Day fireworks show and a Victorian Fair.  There are plenty of good fishing spots, especially at the dock across the lake, and dogs are welcome.  The lake and creek are host to several kinds of fish, plenty of turtles and frogs, as well as waterfowl including a Great Blue Heron and Great Egret.

You are looking for a camouflaged... container.  This container is large enough to hold small trinkets, as long as they are a little less than 2" in diameter.  Please post the condition of the log, in case adjustments need to be made to improve weatherization.  BYOP.

The cache itself is located up a small, but deceptively steep hill, hence the terrain rating.  YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO DO ANY BUSHWHACKING TO GET TO THE CACHE!  If you find yourself having to walk across any plants or cut through scrub, you're going the wrong way.  There is a clear path to GZ if you look around a bit.

This particular area is usually clear of people, though the park itself is full of muggles.  Use your best judgement, as far as stealth goes.

FTF gets a new 8 GB micro thumb drive, due to this being my first cache.

CONGRATS to Pitch_Black for the FTF!
