LES CHASSEURS ARDENNAIS En mars 1914 l’état major pensa créer des unités spéciales chargées de la défense des frontières . Un Général reprit cette idée en 1928 mais elle n'aboutit qu'en projet concret en 1931 sous la tutelle du sénateur libéral DEVEZE. En 1932 le sénateur devient ministre de la défense et créa en février 1933 le commandement des troupes de défense du Luxembourg et de Namur. Ce qui entraîna le changement de dénomination du 10ème de Ligne en Régiment des Chasseurs Ardennais par Arrêté Royal le 10 mars 1933. Le Colonel CHARDOME fût le premier commandant. Le monument National des Chasseurs Ardennais a été érigé sur le site même du bref combat du 10 mai 1940 au cours duquel la 1e Panzerdivision allemande affronta la 4e Compagnie du 1er Chasseurs Ardennais aux ordre du Commandant Kelecom. C'est quelques kilomètres plus loin, à Bodange que cette division allait se faire accrocher jusqu'au soir par la 5e compagnie du même régiment, commandée par le Commandant Bricart qui devait perdre la vie dans ce combat. C'est le Lieutenant Greindl, très actif durant la guerre dans le Service social Chasseurs Ardennais - donc dans la Résistance, qui eut l'idée de l'emplacement du monument. Il fut assassiné au camp de Buchenwald et ne sut jamais que sa proposition avait abouti pleinement! En bordure de la Voie de la Liberté (N4, carrefour vers Grumelange). Ce mémorial a été inauguré une première fois en 1952(par leRoi Baudouin au cours d'une cérémonie exceptionnelle ) et transformé suite à des travaux effectués sur la nationale. Le nouveau monument a conservé la sculpture du sanglier par André Fontaine et a été inauguré en 1975.
HUNTERS ARDENNAIS In March 1914 the General Staff thought creating special units to defend the borders. A General took up this idea in 1928 but it results in concrete project in 1931 under the tutelage of Liberal Senator DEVEZE. Senator in 1932 became minister of defense and created in February 1933 the command of defense forces of Luxembourg and Namur. This led to the renaming of the 10th Regiment of the Line in the Ardennes Hunters by Royal Decree 10 March 1933. Colonel CHARDOME was the first commander. The National monument Ardennes Hunters was erected on the site of the brief battle of May 10, 1940 in which the first German Panzer fought the 4th Company of the 1st Chasseurs Ardennes Kelecom order of the Commander. It is a few kilometers away, in Bodange that this division would be hang till evening by the 5th Company of the same regiment, commanded by Commander Bricart who had lost their lives in this battle. This is Lieutenant Greindl very active during the war in Social Service Ardennes Hunters - so in the Resistance, who had the idea of the location of the monument. He was murdered in Buchenwald and never knew that its proposal had led to the fullest! Along the Way of Freedom (N4 junction to Grumelange). This memorial was unveiled for the first time in 1952 (by Baldwin Leroi during a special ceremony) and transformed as a result of work done on the national level. The new monument preserved boar sculpture by André Fontaine and was inaugurated in 1975.
