Geocache Description:

De watermolen van Terlanen (Molenstraat) werd al vermeld in 1492 maar daarna blijven de historische gegevens vaag. Vast staat dat hij ten tijde van de Spanjaarden helemaal werd verwoest. In 1893 tenslotte, wanneer hij na een brand erg vervallen was, werden de laatste verbeterings- en restauratiewerken uitgevoerd, waaronder een nieuw waterrad met een doorsnede van 3m86. Het was een onderslagmolen: het water viel onderaan op het rad Daardoor draaide het rad in tegenwijzerzin. Dit houten rad is volledig overdekt door een bijgebouwtje, dat aan het molenhuis is verbonden. Een blauwe steen met inscriptie herinnert ons aan de verbouwing van 1893.

De molen is een prive-gebouw. Volg het pad, langs de beek (kijk uit voor ijsvogels!) Naar een kapel.

The watermill in Terlanen (Molenstraat) was first mentioned in 1492, but after that the historical evidence is vague. It is certain that it was completely destroyed at the time of the Spaniards in the 17th century. After a fire in 1893 improvement and restoration work was carried out, including a new water wheel with a diameter of 3m86. The water fell down onto the wheel, turning the wheel counterclockwise. The wheel is completely covered by an outbuilding, which is connected to the mill. Nearby a stone with an inscription reminds us of the renovation in 1893.

The mill is a private building. Follow the path, along the stream (watch out for kingfishers!) to a chapel.
