Eine Besonderheit ist, dass es zu dieser Burg kein Tor in der Mauer gab und in das Innere der Burg kam man damals nur über die Mauer mit Hilfe einer Holz-Konstruktion. Bei Gefahr konnte diese Konstruktion schnell und leicht entfernt werden.
Neben der Burg stehen die Überreste der Kirche des Heiligen Nikolaus (Sv. Nikole) aus dem Jahr 1325. Verschiedene Legenden berichten von vergrabenen Schätzen bei dieser Kirche - Irgendetwas muss wohl wahr sein, denn nach den Ausgrabungen von Gradec konnte man den Bau des Glockenturms von Vrbnik (1527) finanzieren.
So kommen Sie zur Burg Gradec
Fahren Sie in das Dorf Garica in Richtung Vrbnik vorbei, und biegen bei den letzten Häusern nach links ab (N 45 05.276 E 14 37.021). Ab da wechseln sich geteerte und geschotterte Wege ab bis vor einer Rechtskurve ein flacher, eingezäunter Wasserspeicher kommt. Dieser Wasserspeicher ist sehr klein und flach und nicht mit den großen neuen Wasserspeichern zu verwechseln, die es in der Nähe gibt. Dort fahren Sie geradeaus bergauf den Schotterweg weiter (Dort befindet sich ein Schild "Gradec"). Nach ein paar hundert Metern und einer Rechtskurve endet der Weg. Von dort dem Schild und dem kleinen Pfad folgen bis zur Burg Gradec (N 45 06.007 E 14 37.785). Der Geocache befindet sich in der Nähe einer Ecke der Burg hinter einem Stein in der Mauer.
A special feature is that to the interior to this castle there was no gate in the wall. The only way over the wall was using a wooden construction. At risk situations this construction could be removed quickly and easily.
Besides the castle, the ruins of the church of Saint Nicholas (Sv Nikole) are from the year 1325. Various legends tell of a treasure in this church - Something must be true, because after the excavations of Gradec it was possible to finance the construction of the bell tower of Vrbnik (1527).
How to get to Castle Gradec
Pass the village of Garica towards Vrbnik, and turn at the last houses left (N 45 05 276 E 14 37 021). Then paved and gravel roads alternate until a right turn, a flat, enclosed water tank comes. This water tank is very small and shallow and not to be confused with the large new reservoirs that exist in the area. There you go straight uphill to the unpaved road (there is a sign "Gradec"). After a few hundred meters, and a right turn, the road ends. From there, the sign and the small path starts to the castle of Gradec (N 45 06 007 E 14 37 785). The geocache is located near a corner of the castle behind a brick in the wall.
