Geocache Description:

"Church Rinsi - Time Rests Here 2" is a traditional small cache.

The Rinsi church was built in 1871–73. The builders were skilled local men supervised by Old Believers from The Peipsi area in eastern Estonia. Rinsi church is devoted to the Holy Icon of Virgin Mary the Mother of God in Kazan that is believed to be an icon which brings protection and blessing to marriages and family life. A number of legendary orthodox priests who have left their traces to the local history, served in Rinsi. Among them are Aleksander Bobkovski
from a family of clergymen in Pskov region, a cantor and schoolteacher Aleksei Pallasmaa, priest Vassili Raavel, and in Soviet time, Bobkovski’s sister’s son Andrei Klaas who, together with her wife, wrote the songs „This is little Muhu” and „Sister islands” that enjoy wide popularity among the local people. The later archbishop of Finland and Karelia, Hermann Aav from Muhu, wrote icons for Rinsi church. In the church there is a painting „Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane” by a Muhu local Matvei Kesküla. Rinsi church is in active use.
