Geocache Description:

This small park sits on Blue River in the town of Blue River. This scenic area was settled in the 1800’s by the Sparks family. Gold was discovered in the area in 1863 and the Blue River Mining District was established. At one time more than 250 men worked the mines in the area. In 1900 Samuel Sparks and his sons laid out the town. By 1912 gold mining activity had virtually stopped. Records show that Lucky Boy Mines extracted over $1 million in gold from the surrounding area.
