Leaburg Fish Hatchery was built in 1953 to help fish populations along the McKenzie River recover from the completion of dams. The Viewing Platform is a great place to watch Chinook salmon spawning. The ponds are stocked with sturgeon, trout and salmon, treating visitors to a rare close-up view of what’s in Lane County’s rivers and streams. The Japanese garden is open year-round. Nearby Water Board Park is the perfect place for a picnic or for boat access to the McKenzie River.
