Riverside Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Shefetswe: After much deliberation I must archive this cache. 3 visits to the area to replace the cache showed me how much muggle traffic is in the area and for some reason the activity around the area where the cache was hidden seems to be turned over.

This one gets archived.

Geocache Description:

Despite its urban setting, the Swartkops Estuary, with its adjacent saltpans, is one of the best places in the country to see the less common estuarine waders and terns. It is an Important Bird Area, with over 10 000 waterbirds in summer and is one of the “must see” birding venues in Port Elizabeth

An estuary is a partly enclosed coastal body of water with one or more rivers or streams flowing into it, and with a free connection to the open sea.Parts of the estuary and saltpans can be viewed from public roads at Swartkops and Amsterdamhoek

The coordinates will take you to a playground on the banks of the swartkops river where cache is located. The cache was hidden during high tide so no need to worry about water levels. The playground has a mini basket ball court, climbing cage and a round-about which younger ones can enjoy.

Please take a moment to admire the flow of the river as it meets up with the ocean while soaking up the salty breeze.
