São árvores que pelo seu porte, desenho, idade e raridade se distinguem dos outros exemplares. Também os motivos históricos ou culturais são factores a ter em conta.

Que condicionalismos e vantagens advêm da classificação?
A classificação de "Interesse Público" atribui ao arvoredo um estatuto similar ao do património construído classificado.

Pelo Decreto-Lei n.º 28468, de 15 de Fevereiro de 1938, a Autoridade Florestal Nacional classifica árvores que merecem a designação de "Interesse Público" com publicação no portal desta entidade.

Se conhece alguma árvore, ou algum conjunto de árvores, que julgue ser de especial interesse preservar, dirija-se-nos, indicando a localização e, se possível, enviando uma fotografia.
