Certain numbers or combinations of numbers can appeal through their simplicity, repetitiveness, uniqueness or other attribute. The 12th December 2012 is perhaps one such date, especially when written 12-12-12. As good an excuse as any to hold an event for geocachers! Make it even more 'unique' by meeting at 12 minutes and 12 seconds past 12 noon! Thus - 12:12:12 / 12-12-12
The National Trust have become interested in geocaching as it fits well with their aims and objectives, getting folk to enjoy their properties and countryside. They have also placed some caches at certain sites, including Sizergh. Visitors can have a go at geocaching by hiring a GPS and heading off for an adventure!
So, put all this together and we have an event being held at Sizergh Castle on the 12th at noon. We will meet at the above co-ordinates, which is the green space in the car park, in front of the cafe and shop. Stay for a while and chat to others, have a brew or lunch, go for a walk, or whatever you fancy. One of the rangers, Sam, has offered to lead a guided walk in the grounds and local area, discussing the work of the NT and the natural wonders which can be discovered. There may be a couple of new caches out as well!
Hope to see you there. Please log a "Will Attend" to give an idea of numbers, and it might be useful to know if you're planning on eating.
