Start at the stunning Skogarfoss, walk on top of a canyon along the river and enjoy an amazing view. The hike will take about 2 hours. The cache is well hidden between stones. Please put it back in exactly the same way!
Deutsch: Du startest am Wasserfall Skogarfoss und wanderst entlang dem Fluss über der Schlucht mit atemberaubendem Panorama. Wanderzeit total ca. 2 Std. Der Cache ist gut zwischen Steinen versteckt; bitte wieder auf die gleiche Art "versorgen"!
We did this hiking tour on our trip in Iceland. You'll start at the stunning Skogarfoss and then walk on top of a canyon, mainly alongside the river, sometimes higher, sometimes nearer above it and meet lots of waterfalls. You'll have an amazing view on moon-like landscapes and see glaciers, vulcano hills and even to the sea. The hike to the cache takes approximately 1.25 to 1.5 hours one way - aerial distance ist about 2 km, the hike will be about 3 km. Back you'll be quicker, so the whole trip will take about 2 hours. You can even go further (what we did) until you reach a bridge (after about 7 km), and further on to a hut (Baldvinsskali) or to Thórsmörk. This whole tour would take you one way about 8 hours. We even met mountain-bikers coming downhill. Besides all that you'll really be alone and just be able to enjoy the overwhelming scenery - and find this cache to motivate you to go there! Ideal to be done together with the cache Suðurland 1 - The hidden treasure in the waterfall! The cache is a glass container, a small TB finds place in it, and has to start in it: Log book, pencil, sharpener (please leave there!), 1 Krona coin, and for the FTF a snap hook "Iceland".

Du wirst am beeindruckenden Wasserfall Skogarfoss starten und dann manchmal näher, manchmal weiter entfernt, manchmal höher, manchmal tiefer entlang dem Fluss, über der Schlucht wandern. Dabei wirst du mondartige Landschaften ebenso entdecken wie saftiges Grün, ehemalige Vulkane und einen Blick auf die Gletscher erhaschen. Die Wanderung zum Cache dauert ungefähr 1.25 bis 1.5 Stunden ein Weg. Zurück wirst du schneller sein, sodass die gesamte Wanderung ungefähr 2 Stunden dauern dürfte. Die Luftliniendistanz beträgt rund 2 km vom Parkplatz, der effektive Weg dürfte ca. 3 km sein. Du kannst auch noch viel weiter wandern (nach ungefähr 7 km kommt eine Brücke), zu einer Hütte (Baldvinsskali) oder bis nach Thórsmörk, was ungefähr 8 Stunden (ein Weg) dauert. Wir sind sogar Mountainbikern begegnet, die hier Downhill heruntergerast kamen. Ansonsten wirst du wirklich allein sein und diese prächtige, überwältigende Atmosphäre hier geniessen - und diesen Cache finden, der dich motivieren soll, hierherzukommen. Lässt sich natürlich ideal verbinden mit dem Bergen des Caches Suðurland 1 - The hidden treasure in the waterfall! Der Cache besteht aus einem Glasbehälter mit Platz für einen kleinen TB und hat zum Start drin: Logbuch, Bleistift, Spitzer (bitte drin lassen), 1-Kronen-Münze und für den FTF einen Karabinerhaken "Island".
