Heartland Cacher: Greetings from Geocaching.com I'm Heartland Cacher, one of the volunteer reviewers for new caches submitted to Geocaching.com.

It has been a while since I first looked at this cache. I can't find any recent responses from the Cache Owner about maintaining this cache which makes it appear the Cache Owner is either unwilling or unable to maintain the cache. [b]Cache maintenance includes listing maintenance including updating any changes to the text, updating coordinates, removing needs maintenance attributes and enabling the listing.[/b] The cache will be archived and removed from the active cache listings. Should the owner decide to maintain the cache in the near future (30 days), just contact me (by email including the GCXXX and Cache Name), and assuming it meets the current guidelines, I'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

This challenge cache micro IS at the posted coordinates. Bring something to write with. It's between 2 saints, but it's closer to Barnabas than it is to Cecilia. There's a lovely bench area nearby where you can sit and sign the log. No need to disturb any foliage in the area, so please don't.


Simon Templar, aka The Saint, made his literary debut in 1928 when writer Leslie Charteris published “Meet - the Tiger!” The character went on to success in films, on radio, and in comic books. His nickname comes from his initials, ST. He’s a partially reformed con man, burglar and criminal, and frequently his capers have a “Robin Hood” quality. He leaves behind a saintly stick figure as his calling card.

The Saint has been portrayed by George Sanders, Val Kilmer and Vincent Price, among others, but future James Bond actor Roger Moore is most identified with the role due to the popular TV series from 1962-69.

This challenge cache seeks to determine who the patron saint of geocaching should be. The Roman Catholic church has a centuries-old tradition of particular saints possessing a particular patronage; St. Patrick, for example, is not only the patron saint of Ireland but also the patron saint of ophidiophobes (those afraid of snakes).

St. Erasmus, patron of navigators
St. Expeditus, patron of navigators and prompt solutions
St. Hubert of Liege, patron of hunters and opticians
St. Thomas the Apostle, patron of surveyors and blind people
St. Anthony of Padua, patron of swineherds, travelers and seekers of lost articles
St. Jude, patron of lost causes

Finders of this cache hereby earn the right to vote once for which saint shall be deemed the patron or patroness of geocaching. Be sure and mention one of the above-named saints (or another nominee if you so desire) in your found log, and after a suitable period of discernment the tabulations will be sent on to Rome. Choose which saint you would most like to intercede when you’re desperate and praying for help finding a cache.
