Geocache Description:

This cache is in tribute to the Mammoth Museum at the Hayden Cabin in the very eastern end of the town of Mammoth Lakes.  The cache is a micro log only.  Bring your own pen.  It should be fairly easy to find in the summer but who knows about the winter.  It might be gettable then depending upon snow pack.  If you find it in the winter please note in the log your impressions of difficulty for the next cacher.

We were at the Hayden Cabin for a family wedding and thought that it would be a great place for a cache.  Our original idea was to have you answer questions from the museum content but when we learned that the museum is only open during the summer, we decided to make this a traditional cache with an unofficial challenge.  The cache is outside on the museum grounds and can be found whether the museum is open or closed.  The museum is open from mid-May until the end of September, 10:30 -5:00.  After you find the cache, please take the time to visit the museum, say hi to Mark Davis, the historian/curator, and then answer these questions as our unofficial challenge.  We have one question from each room in the cabin.  There is no need to post the answers in your log as we are on the honor system.  We just want to play a very small part in keeping the history alive of this wonderful town and mountain.  There is a $2 optional donation FYI.
1)      What was the job of Sybil Summers?
2)      The first resort hotel was the Wildasin Hotel.  What year did it open?
3)      What did Emmett Hayden call highway 395 and why did he call it that?
4)      Margaret Hayden’s actual wood burning stove is on display in the kitchen.  What city was it built in?
