About MAX/Streetcar OMSI Station
Portland Streetcar eastside loop opened in September of 2012. The MAX Orange Line opened in September of 2015. Both lserve the OMSI station stop, although at different sets of platforms. This cache is these stations.
The Streetcar links OMSI with the Convention Center, Lloyd District, Rose Quarter with the Pearl District and the downtown area on the west side of the river and also crosses the Tilikum Bridge to downtown Portland. The MAX Orange Line connects Milwaukie with Downtown Bridge. It joins the Powerland Streetcar tracks to cross over the Willamette River on Tilikum Crossing.
Also close to here (a block east and north) is the Oregon Rail Heritage Railroad Foundation new museum/enginehouse. It is the new home to the World Famous SP4449 Daylight Locomotive, along with SPS700 and OR&N 197. All 3 locomotives are officially owned by the city of Portland but maintained and operated by the volunteers of the foundation and each locomotive group.
The locomotives were previously stored at the old SP Brooklyn Roadhouse. However the Union Pacific had other needs for the land and wanted the locomotives moved. At the new Heritage center they are more accessible to the public. Be sure to check it out.
