A cache fica localizada na freguesia de São João, perto do monumento aos pastores, homem e mulher, que foi inaugurado no ano 2000.
The cache is located in the parish of São João, near the monument to the herdsmen, men and women, which was inaugurated in 2000.

Os pastores são uma figura muito característica da freguesia de São João, uma vez que a maior atividade de subsistência era a pecuária e agricultura. Eles subiam e desciam as encostas, para chegarem aos terrenos de pastagem, os “Matos de São João”, sujeitos aos rigores do tempo, ainda pelo escuro da noite, para não perderem as horas de luz na caminhada, que levava muitas vezes mais de três horas para cada lado. De regresso, voltavam com o leite às costas em canecas de madeira de cedro, com o qual confeccionavam o queijo ainda hoje famoso na freguesia.
A uns metros do monumento, e da Casa do Povo de São João, existe uma fábrica de lacticínios, onde poderão adquirir o famoso queijo.
Junto ao monumento e no local onde encontrarem a cache, já existiu outrora um moinho de vento. De acordo com o testemunho do meu avô, (nunca encontrei nada documentado), o moinho pertenceu a um senhor, que tinha muitas filhas e um só filho, e que segundo vontade expressa deste, aquando da sua morte o moinho seria para o seu único filho. No entanto, as filhas não gostaram da ideia e, com o falecimento do pai, decidem vender o moinho, que é desmantelado e vendido. Uma das filhas e seu marido foram os compradores, que o levaram para os lados do Campo Raso, Madalena do Pico. Mas, no primeiro dia em que o moinho funcionou na sua nova morada, de forma inesperada, fez muito vento, destruindo-o por completo, ficando o seu dono “passado do juízo” (maluco). E esta hein!?
No terreno encontrarão apenas a base de suporte (embasamento circular que nivelava e elevava o moinho em relação ao terreno) do referido moinho de vento. No cimo dessa base tem um círculo feito em parede de pedra, que não faz parte do moinho, mas sim, uma suposta ideia, para colocar colmeias de abelhas no seu interior, que nunca veio a servir, uma vez que o lugar era muito ventoso.

The herdsmen are a very characteristic figure of the parish of São João, since most subsistence activity was farming and ranching. Near the monument and where you will find the cache, already once existed a windmill. According to the testimony of my grandfather, (never found anything documented), the windmill belonged to a gentleman who had many daughters and one son, and that according to his wishes, on his death the windmill would be for his sole son, however the girls did not like the idea and, with the death of his father, decided to sell the windmill, which is dismantled and sold. One of the daughters and her husband were the buyers, who took it to the sides of Candelária, Madalena do Pico. But on the first day that the windmill worked at its new home, unexpectedly, the wind blew stronger, destroying it completely, with this, the new owner stayed crazy. And this huh!?
On the field you will only find the support base of the windmill (circular foundation that leveled and raised the windmill of the ground). On top of this base
is a circle, made of stone wall, which is not part of the windmill, but a supposed idea to place beehives inside, that was never used, since the place was very windy.
