A MEGA Fun way to end the 9Icon Walk forming part of the programme of MEGA South Africa 2012. At the centre of Church Square in Pretoria stands a tall statue of Paul Kruger, the famous and infamous President of the old Transvaal. Surely in life and as a statue, Oom Paul, as the President was affectionately known, has seen a lot of strange things. But I don’t think he has ever seen a Geocaching Flash Mob – now it is your chance to make history!
Along the way of the 9Icon Walk and at the start of this Flash Mob event, attendance log slips will be handed out for the attendees to complete. These log slips will afterwards be pasted into the logbook of the event.
In true Geocaching style we will all meet at the designated time and place for some good natured outdoor fun. Please read the instructions below carefully and make sure that you come prepared. The homework is explained below the instructions.
Now this is how this thing will go down:
16:15 First Whistle: X-marks the spot. We all assemble at the point where the cement walkways intersect with each other forming a man-made X. Each one drop their completed log slip in the bucket provided.
16:20 Second Whistle: All form into concentric circles around the bucket by holding hands.
16:21 Third Whistle: All the circles move clockwise around the bucket while loudly singing the first verse of the South African Folk Tune “Aanstap Rooies”.
16:22 Fourth Whistle: All the circles switch direction and now move anti-clockwise around the bucket while loudly singing the first verse of the South African Folk Tune “Aanstap Rooies”.
16:23 Fifth Whistle: All stand together for a group photo.
16:25 All disperse as if nothing happened. Buses will be waiting at the Southern end of Church Square to take the Geocachers back to the MEGA South Africa 2012 Site.
HOMEWORK:
1. Find an interesting hat or cap that is appropriate to wear for an auspicious occasion like this visit to Oom Paul. Bring it along and wear it during the Event.
2. Learn the words to the first verse of the South African Folk Tune “Aanstap Rooies”. This is not a puzzle cache, so here are the words:
Aanstap rooies! Die pad is lank en swaar,
die mense wag al daar en die koffie is al klaar.
