So what is Czech Christmas. There are lot of traditions, but we have chosen just some of them.
Christmas nutshells
During Christmas we are preparing walnut nutshells with a candle (every attendee should bring his/her own handmade one) and then we send them on the water.
If the nutshell stays close to the bench, the owner will stay at home next year, if it floats further, the owner will travel. New geocaching tradition is sending Geonutshells on Certovka river in (Prague Kampa island), and because of the number of people attending, it is a
mega event now.
We would like you to come and bring your nutshells with candles and send it from Slussen stairs to the water. In case the sea is frozen, we will go for other tradition, which is
Apple cutting
If you bring big, healthy apple with you, then when you cut it in a half, on equator, the apple will show you star, which is a sign for health and happiness. In case there is not star, the owner of the apple should take care of himself the next year.
Or other tradition for brave girls:
Shoe tossing
Single girls should toss their shoe behind their back, if the pike of the shoe shows to the girl, she is going to stay at home next year, if the pike shoes from the girl, she is going to get married.
We hope you will come to enjoy our traditions, there will also be a small surprise for attendees, so please even though you would not go for other traditions, bring a candle and a small bell with you, so we can ring the bells together and share the Christmas light. We would also enjoy hearing about or seeing the Sweedish Christmas traditions.
