Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the posted coordinates, but its location can be discovered by solving the puzzle below. Container is a small-to-medium lock and lock.

First-to-find prize is a CD-R containing the first 2 Wimsey detective e-books in 3 formats.

There used to be a cache called Maple Village Cache (2006-2010) not too far from here. Here, across the creek from the golf course, you’ll find a golf ball or two. Keep an eye out for golfers teeing off, if they’re as bad as me and sometimes come around with a wicked hook. The somewhat steep terrain nearby doesn’t make this a very friendly nighttime cache, so it’s not recommended.

Lord Peter Wimsey, an affluent British gentleman detective, was another favorite from the “golden age” of crime fiction, the 1920s and 30s. The writer was Dorothy L. Sayers.

Step 1: solve these simple substitution ciphers. All items in a category share the same ciphers, but they change from one category to the next.

Step 2: Fill in the solution by transferring your SOLVED letters into the formula below. Using the formulation xy-z, x=category, y=answer, z=# of letter in solved answer. (“3a-4,” for example, would be the fourth letter of your answer for 3a, the first ciphertext in the “Trackables & Collectibles” category.)
