Geocache Description:

A Church Micro at St Peter's Church, West Knighton.

There were no information leaflets in the church when we visited so we only have limited information.

The parish church of St Peter is of the 12th century of which only the the chancel arch, adjacent walling and parts of the north wall of the nave survive.
The chancel was rebuilt in the 13th century, the nave was lengthened and the lower part of the west tower was built.

The church was restored in 1893-4 under Thomas Hardy's supervision when the vestry was probably added.

The church has stone rubble walls with some flint. The roofs are made of stone slates, lead and tiles.

Inside there are monuments to Elizabeth wife of Richard Warde, 1635 and to John Adair Hawkins, 1842 and Jane his wife, 1863.

The above co-ordinates should take you to a bench in loving memory of George Miller, where you can sit and work out the co-ordinates to the cache from the nearby grave stone of Robert Alfred Gale who died AB October CDEF Aged GH

The cache can be found at:
N50 41. A (D-C) E

Checksum = 52

Warning, the walk to the cache is along a narrow country lane.

Congratulations to matt4666 for FTF!

If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication.
There is also a Church Micro Stats page found via the Bookmark list.
