Geocache Description:

In memory of Alex, a fun-loving Russian exchange student. Climb to the top- and bring a camera for the spectacular view! Watch for the ELECTRIC FENCE!

You will need good shoes for this one. The hike is strenuous, but not too far, and not too difficult for a fit adult. The electric fence may be on, so please enter through the gate and duck under the wire- and be sure to close the gate securely after! Please park off the road (coordinates provided). Walk up the wide driveway to the left, and begin your climb from the double metal gates. This cache should be available year round except for a short period of time after large snow storms.

. Note that you do NOT have to go through the barbed wire fence at the top! That fence is very recent, and the original spot was accidentally destroyed by the cattlemen. It has been relocated below the fence. This cache is in memory of our dear exchange student, Alex Kurbatov, who passed away in Russia in 2011. When Alex first arrived from Russia, he was not too happy to be spending a year in a 'village'. Once he was sure he had to stay here, he began enjoying it- and grew to love it here. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and always brought fun with him wherever he went. He and his best friend, Iyo (from Indonesia) did some pretty crazy things and navigated all the cultural changes together. When we learned that Alex had died in a senseless robbery back home in Russia, it brought a boatload of grief here in Inkom, Idaho. He had been planning on coming to visit the summer of 2012, and there are still tears thinking of not seeing him again until the next life. This cache is a way to memorialize Alex, in a spot he climbed to a number of times. There is a travel bug associated with this one, with the hope that it will reach his parents in Yekaterinburg, Russia. He was his mother's only child, and I know his mother will be overjoyed to know how many people have participated in keeping his memory alive. We will take photos of the cache and the log every once-and-awhile so that his parents know that he will never be forgotten on this side of the world!
