Texas Challenge XI (2013)

Hosted by: TXGA South Texas Region
Location: Robert Point Park - Port Aransas, Tx
Dates: April 5-7, 2013.

For 11 years, the Texas Challenge has become the annual geocaching social event of the State of Texas. The contest itself has grown into a weekend of activities for both people wishing to participate in the challenge and those people who wish to only casually attend! Last year’s attendance was over 500 people.
You do not have to participate in the Texas Callenge to attend. There are other activities to participate in if you choose not to compete in the Challenge. We also welcome out-of-state geocachers to attend, and/or participate in the Challenge.

Schedule of Activities:

Friday
2:00 pm Registration opens
6:00 pm Friday night event (GC44ZYP)
10:00 pm Park and Registration Closes
 
Saturday
6:00 am Park opens
7:00 am Registration opens
8:15 am Welcome meeting with rules, ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST ATTEND!
9:00 am Captains meeting, GPX flash drives with coords given, GPS loading begins
9:30 am Camp Kiddie Cacher opens - Small Pavillion
9:45 am Final words and score cards will be handed out
10:00 am CHALLENGE BEGINS (anyone seen leaving early will be disqualified)
10:00 am Non-challenge participant activities at main pavilion (ends at 3:30 pm)
2:00 pm CHALLENGE ENDS (no score cards accepted after 2:00 pm)
2:15 pm Camp Kiddie Cacher closes (Kids MUST be picked up before 2:30!)
3:30 pm Lunch is served
5:30 pm Awards ceremony and announcement of new TXGA Board Members
7:00 pm Saturday evening event (GC454VH)
10:00 pm Park closes

9:30 am CITO begins (GC44Q12)

The South Texas Region and the Texas Geocaching Association Board of Directors are working hard to make this Texas Challenge a successful and memorable weekend of events. Please know that the rules for scoring and participation in this Texas Challenge may be different than prior Texas Challenge events.

To ensure that you are prepared for the Texas Challenge, consider the following:

Pre-Registered Attendees:
  • Will be allowed to participate in the Texas Challenge.
  • May pick up pre-sorted event packets, and pre-ordered souveniers and meal tickets.
  • Can sign their children up for Camp Kiddie Cacher.

On-Site Registered Attendees:
  • Will NOT be able to participate in the Texas Challenge.
  • May only purchase souveniers on a first-come, first-serve basis, with no guarantees.
  • Can buy meal tickets, which will be sold after the meals have started to be served.
  • Cannot sign their children up for Camp Kiddie Cacher.


Please note:
Anyone who paid for their meal online during pre-registration will be given the opportunity to obtain their meal when it first becomes available. Once those pre-registrants have obtained their meals, on-site meal tickets will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. There is no guarantee that food will be available at the event for you unless you purchased a meal ticket during pre-registration!

The food will be delicious, so we recommend that you purchase a meal ticket in advance during pre-registration. Pre-registration is now OPEN!
