I have been coming to this island and lake for over 35 years. It was time to place some "5" category caches on the lake. This is the easiest of the 3 we placed on Labor Day weekend 2012. You will need a boat, kayak or some water device to get to this island before making a short hike to find the cache container, a 35mm film canister with only a log. Bring A Pen!
Houston County Lake is an Army Corp of Engineer lake that I have swam in my entire life. We love this lake for boating and fishing and have several properties on this lake that belong to our family. We also love the church camp, Frotier Camp, that our family has been involved with for over 40 years which is on this lake, too. This cache is a 5 for terrain given the need for a boat, but the actual container is going to take some searching and skills for many to retrieve even once on the island, hence the 3 difficulty on the hide.
