stellamo: Über 7 Jahre hat dieser Tradi nun an den ersten Fund von Dinosaurierresten in Deutschland erinnert. Nun wird er archiviert.
Das Logbuch hing in einer löchrigen Tüte an einem Baum und einzelne Teile der Dose waren verstreut im Umland zu finden. Vermutlich sind doch zu viele Hunde mit ihren Haltern hier unterwegs und fanden in dem Dino einen willkommenen "Spielkameraden" (s. Fotos).
Sollte es mal wieder einen solchen Cache geben, muss er "Hunde-sicherer" sein.

Geocache Description:

Dieser Tradi soll an den ersten Fund von Dinosaurierresten auf deutschem Boden erinnern. Im Jahr 1834 wurden Reste des "Plateosaurus Engelhardti" in einer Tongrube beim heutigen Nürnberger Ortsteil Buchenbühl gefunden. Dort wo der Cache liegt, ist auf alten Karten eine Lehmgrube verzeichnet. Ob sie allerdings DIE Tongrube ist, ist nicht sicher. Trotzdem: Vielleicht lässt sich ja auch heutzutage noch ein Dino dort finden

Update: Im Frühjahr 2014 hat die Naturhistorische Gesellschaft ca. 1,5km weiter nördlich eine Schautafel zum Fund aufgestellt. So ganz sicher über die Lage sind sich die Experten aber auch nicht (s. Wegpunkt und Foto).

This traditional cache is dedicated to the first discovery of a dinosaur in Germany. In 1834 bones of a "Plateosaurus Engelhardti" were found in a clay pit near today's village of Buchenbuehl a district of Nuremberg. Old maps show a clay pit at the coordinates of the cache but it's not sure whether this was THE clay pit. Nevertheless there might be a dinosaur to find nowadays, too

Update: In the spring of 2014 the Society for Natural History installed an Information Board (in German) about the discovery about 1,5km north. But even the experts are not entirely sure about the location (see waypoint and photography).

Nachdem es ein paar Nachfragen gab: "Dino 1" wird keine Serie. Die Nummer spielt nur darauf an, dass es wirklich Dino Nummer 1 in Deutschland war.
The name "Dino 1" does not mean that this will become a series of dino caches. It's just to indicate the fact that this was dinosaur number one in Germany.
