Geocache Description:

The container could accommodate a sizable travel bug tour group or reunion; it's cached below Lake Elaine, sort of on the way to Walnut Canyon Overlooked. Such a myriad network of trails I don't know what to advise. I parked below Lake Elaine.

CACHE IS NOT AT THE POSTED COORDINATES!

Berndt and his younger brother were up in the attic rummaging through dusty memorabilia when they came upon an old memo book and some mysterious numbers inside the cover. The numbers were poorly aligned, as though someone had noted them in the dark.
“This is Grampa’s old book. He always had it on his desk,” Berndt mumbled, a panoply of memories crossing his mind. “Hmm… yeah, these’re for opening padlocks. Two virtual padlocks. To a container no one’s opened since he... died.”
“Those are bigger numbers than on my Gym locker,” the younger brother said.
“Yeah. Grampa had bad macular degeneration. Those can’t be the combinations. He counted clicks. That's why he told me once to never touch either of the dials.”
“Did he start to the left or the right?”
“I dunno. He was right-handed... I saw him open’em once. I think one had thirty-six positions. The other, thirty-six or... maybe twenty-four. But as for starting numbers, we’ve gotta guess and hope no one’s disturbed them.”
“So only he knew the the starting numbers?”
“Knew'em but he couldn't see'em. Granma used to keep this book for him. Maybe he used a birth date. He was born in 09. Grandma was born in 1912. They lived like forever at 4-1/2 Birnstengl St., by a little bridge over the stream. Maybe those are clues. If you wanta’ try, we can go out in the forest...”
