How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

Letterboxing combines navigational skill and rubber stamping.
You will find a LetterBox Stamp and Ink Pad in the cache. These are not trade items and they stay with the cache.

Letterboxing is like Geocaching only without a GPS. You give clues or directions to locate the cache container instead of coordinates. True letter-boxers carry a signature stamp with them and stamp the Cache log with their stamp. They also carry a log book with them and use the stamp inside that cache on their log book, sort of like a record keeping system.

Letterbox (Hybrid) is a concept devised by Ground Speak to interest letter-boxers into Geocaching and allow Geocachers the opportunity to locate a letterbox.

This is a HIGH MUGGLE area please use stealth when hunting.

For Letterboxers:
Come to the Village of Navarre,Ohio on Rt# 21, turn East on Wooster Street. You will come to a 4 way stop, you will be looking at St.Clements Cathloic Church. Turn South at the stop and go over a railroad track to another stop sign, on the East side you will see the J.D.DeFine Building(on the Historial Register) Continue acrossed a small Bridge that spans the Tuscawas River and follow the road around some small bends and up and down small hills. You will turn East on Rockville and drive to the stop sign, straight ahead you will see a very old well kept school house and to the North a new bridge. Turn South on Riverland, this will be a great scenic drive in the country, go around more bends and hills and railroad tracks till you arrive at the stop sign. You are at #212.
Turn East on #212 and go over the bridge, it crosses the Tuscarawas River again .
As soon as you cross the River turn North into a gravel Parking Lot.
There is a hike and bike path that leads from the parking lot, follow this about 500 ft. On your left you will be looking for a stump. Inside the stump will be the letterbox!

Thanks to Stark Parks without their support this Geotrail would not be possible.
