I would suggest driving to the cache in a high clearance vehicle when conditions are dry because of some slightly deep tire tracks.
If you choose to hike to the cache from the old highway, take into account that the shortest route is just 600 feet away from the cache, but the elevation very steeply increases 350 feet.
The preferred route starts where the new highway intersects the old one at the top of the hill at N 42 34.933 – W 108 16.177. Follow the old highway for almost one mile where you will take the road north at N 42 35.526 – W 108 16.877. In just one more mile, you will be at your destination.
Although the view is amazing, this area is known for having high winds. I thought I might get blown away while hiding it. As usual in these areas, please be cautious of snakes and other critters, especially when retrieving the cache.
