MCPS West Series - Perrineville Lake Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time or has had no owner response for at least 30 days, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

The MCPS WEST series invites geocachers to explore the beauty of Monmouth County’s western parks.  Sponsored by the Monmouth County Park System (MCPS) these caches are designed to be family-friendly and to encourage people to explore some gems of Monmouth County.    There are six caches total in the series (see below).  The first five caches contain a hidden question and can be found in any order.  Answer the five questions to receive the coordinates for the sixth and final cache.  This last cache has stored in it the MCPS WEST buttons to collect.

Perrineville 101
While many county parks can take decades to expand, this one developed rapidly during the early 2000s. The first two parcels (just over 90 acres) were purchased in 1999 and within ten years, the property topped 900 acres. In terms of size, Perrineville Lake is now one of the largest county parks. Nearly five miles of multi-use trails are a favorite among area equestrians, dog owners, and anyone wishing to take a scenic stroll. Cartop vessels such as canoes/kayaks, as well as electric-powered fishing boats are permitted on this calm, 15-acre lake. Species of fish caught in these waters include catfish, panfish and bass. Keep an eye out for turtles that favor the fallen logs at the lake’s edge. NJ State fishing license required.

Cache Summay

Trail:  Look for the Lakeside Loop Trail.  The cache is a less than a mile along the trail.
